The parents of students at the Carmelite school remained mobilized yesterday, supported by elected officials. In this case, majority and opposition speak with one voice and challenge the class closure.
Opposition elected officials from Appame showed their support on Tuesday morning for the parents of students who have been mobilized since Monday against the plan to close a class in the Carmelite kindergarten at the start of the next school year. Françoise Lagreu-Corbalan (Union for Pamiers) and Daniel Mémain (Pamiers Citoyenne) came to the school gates to express their rejection of this closure decision. Majority and opposition, on this subject, therefore speak with one voice. Indeed, at the end of last week, Michel Raulet, deputy mayor in charge of school affairs, had already announced that the municipality did not support this decision to abolish class. The front of the refusal is therefore widening further, after the first union positions taken last Wednesday.
The price of declining job numbers
“City schools are paying the price for the drop in the number of positions allocated to our department, analyzed Mathieu Benard (SNUipp), asked by “La Déêche du Midi”. This decision will impact the particular organization of work put in place by the teaching team, which is damaging. On the other hand, this school is located on the edge of the priority district – on the wrong side of the street, in fact! – where the families who attend the school live. Children and families especially need teachers.” For his part, Antoine Loguillard (UNSA) noted that no school in the city is classified as a priority zone (although some neighborhoods have a sound): “These classifications are old. They go back more than ten years , he denounced Today, only the schools of the Pays d’Olmes benefit from this classification. The maps should be updated. See which schools must now benefit from this classification. And which schools can get out of it”.
The parents of pupils are therefore preparing to join Foix, to express their anger under the windows of the Inspection d’académie: the departmental council of Education meets at 2 p.m. to ratify the decision.
