Pamekasan – Pamekasan Regency, Madura, East Java, Wednesday (1/2/2023), set an extraordinary event (KLB) case measles. A total of 109 children were confirmed cases of measles in the Pamekasan area, from the period September 2022 – January 2023.
Public Relations of Smart Pamekasan Hospital, dr. Syaiful Hidayat conveyed that the number of measles patients mostly targeted children with symptoms of fever, lazy to move tending to be weak and lethargic, reddish spots, runny nose, flu and itching.
“This virus generally attacks children and mostly because they are not immunized,” said Dr. Syaiful Hidayat, Public Relations of Smart Pamekasan Hospital.
In addition, measles can be transmitted through the respiratory tract with symptoms of fever, cough, flu, and can even cause diarrhea.
“There are currently 5 children being treated at Smart Hospital and 4 at M Noer Pamekasan Hospital,” he said.
According to him, the number of measles cases was due to children not having the measles vaccine or inadequate diet and nutrition.
“So the risk of measles is indeed quite high, namely death. However, the case in Pamekasan this time is still 0% for the death rate,” he added.
