To play the role of Flora Tristán, actress Paloma Yerovi was contacted by Jimena Ortiz de Zevallos, the screenwriter of the first feature film version “Flora’s Heritage” that was released this month in theaters nationwide.

As a result of that and to immerse herself in the character, Yerovi began to read everything possible about Flora Tristán, this French woman of Peruvian descent who in the mid-19th century founded one of the first feminism movements in Peru.

Paloma Yerovi ensures that in order to interpret this paper, not only the texts written by Flora Tristan herself were read but everything that was written about the author of “Pilgrimage of a Pariah”. In addition he points out that during the filming process, Augusto Tamayo, director of “The Legacy of Flora”, passed him literature of the time so that Yerovi could understand this character from the historical context.

On the other hand, Paloma Yerovi interviewed Flora Tristan researchers, Peruvian writers, such as Francesca de Negri or Diana Miloslavich, who have published books on this character, and that these helped her understand the relevance and impact Flora Tristan had on her society.

Paloma Yerovi points out that in “Flora’s Inheritance” she sought to interpret the writer and social fighter, and at the same time represent the human side of the writer and thinker that is still little known. “With virtues and defects, Flora Tristán was a person with several edges” and with whom, the actress believes that the public will be able to identify.

During the 19th century, Flora Tristan fought tenaciously for the rights of women and workers. At that time, many of these rights were impossible to achieve. More than a century has passed and some of those rights are difficult to come true.

The film “La Herencia de Flora”, also starring posthumously by the Peruvian actor Diego Bertie, continues to be shown nationwide.
