Paloh Says AHY More Than Deserves to Be a Vice Presidential Candidate, This Said Anies

Jakarta

Chairman of the NasDem Party Solar Paloh called the Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) qualified to be a candidate for vice president (cawapres) Anies Baswedan. Answering that, Anies assessed that currently the coalition is still in the consolidation stage.

“Yes, the point is that right now we are going through the consolidation process for the coalition and while we are thinking about the name of the partner,” said Anies at the PKS DPP, Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta, Thursday (23/2/2023).

Anies said that discussions about the cawapres who would accompany him were still ongoing. For now, it is still in the discussion stage about the coalition.

“So talks about the pair are still ongoing and in this phase is the coalition consolidation phase. Later, after the coalition is finished, we will go to the next stage together to think about the pair,” he said.

“It’s still long. It’s still long,” he added.

Surya Paloh previously praised Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono when the two met at the Democrat headquarters. Paloh said AHY deserved to be Anies Baswedan’s running mate.

It is known that Anies is the presidential candidate supported by NasDem in the 2024 Presidential Election. Paloh thinks that AHY is suitable to be paired with Anies because one of the reasons is that he has a handsome face.

“Just look at this person next to me. Handsome cut, everything, mind,” said Surya Paloh at the Democratic headquarters, Jl Proklamasi 41, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/2). Paloh was asked for his opinion whether AHY was suitable to be Anies’ vice presidential candidate.

Surya Paloh emphasized that the election for vice presidential candidate was in the hands of Anies Baswedan. He said that the decision to elect the cawapres in the hands of Anies had been conveyed from the start by declaring the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

“From the start I said, regarding the vice presidential pair, from the start of the declaration, leave it to the presidential candidates,” said Paloh.

Paloh admitted that he understood the figure of an AHY regarding the decision to become Anies’ vice presidential candidate. However, when asked whether AHY deserves to accompany Anies in 2024, Paloh says yes.

“But if asked appropriate, once again I say, more than appropriate,” said Paloh.
