Chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh propose a unifying duet of the nation Anies Baswedan and Pranowo reward during a discussion with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Even so, the Golkar Party will continue to nominate Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential candidate for 2024.
The chairman of the Golkar DPP, Dave Laksono, said that the Golkar party had already formed a coalition with a number of parties currently in the government. The coalition was named the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB).
“And that’s enough to make a ticket in the upcoming presidential election,” Dave told reporters on Saturday (25/6/2022).
“Although the coalition has not announced who the presidential and vice presidential candidates are, Golkar will still nominate Airlangga,” he added.
NasDem Version of the National Unifying Duet
NasDem deputy head Ahmad Ali said the scheme emerged during Paloh’s discussions with Jokowi. He said Paloh at that time mentioned the names of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.
“This means that Pak Surya thinks that today there is a prominent figure, which we think, if we want to objectively assess it, there is Anies and there is Ganjar,” Ali told reporters.
Ali also explained why Surya Paloh chose Anies and Ganjar. According to him, Anies and Ganjar have different mass niches, which are expected to prevent polarization.
“If these two figures are united, this will at least minimize the emergence of polarization in the upcoming presidential election,” he added.
Ali emphasized that Surya Paloh was not proposing a unifying duo to President Jokowi. According to him, a more appropriate language is to discuss.
Ahmad Ali said that the title of a unifying duet for Anies-Ganjar was NasDem’s view. The member of the DPR RI is aware that not everyone agrees.
“Our thoughts are an ideal partner if then it can be paired. Yes, it means a unifying duet, maybe. That’s according to us, but it’s not necessarily approved by other people because other people can have different views,” said Ali.
