Palmeiras wins Chapecoense for Brasileirão

O palm trees won the first in the Brazilian Championship. With devastating performance in the first half, the alviverde team defeated the Chapecoense 3-1, today (6), at Allianz Parque, in a match valid for the second round. Wesley (2) and Luiz Adriano built the score for the owners of the house, while Busanello made a discount for Santa Catarina.

After a listless performance on his debut in defeat for Flamengo, Palmeiras recovered in a big way. And much is due to a tactical formation that is very different from what coach Abel Ferreira was used to taking on the field. Playing with three forwards, Verdão didn’t give Chapecoense a chance to breathe. With Wesley on the left side and Gustavo Scarpa and Raphael Veiga in creation, Palmeiras had plenty of mobility in front.

Recovered in Brasileirão, Palmeiras will have a classic in the next round. Alviverde faces the Corinthians, Saturday (12), at Allianz Parque. Chapecoense, which suffered its second defeat in the competition after take 3 to 0 of Red Bull Bragantino in their debut, seeks the reaction on Sunday (13), at home, against the Ceará.

Before that, both teams return to the field to play for the Brazil’s Cup on Wednesday (9). Palmeiras receives CRB and depends on a draw to advance to the round of 16. Chapecoense also has an advantage and could even lose by a goal difference to ABC, but will play at the Frasqueirão stadium, in Natal (RN).

The best: Wesley was fast and scorer

Wesley was awarded the starting position at Palmeiras and rewarded him with a great performance on the field, being the highlight of the offensive trio. In addition to making his mark twice, he was inspired by the left and was one of the most active athletes in the offensive sector. “The proposal was to be aggressive from the first minute, and it’s to be that way in the Brazilian Championship, not to leave points at home,” explained Wesley, at half-time, in an interview with the Premiere channel.

Jailson works well

Palmeiras’ attack was the highlight of the match. But when it was required, goalkeeper Jailson – Weverton’s replacement, who is serving the Brazilian Team – appeared well. Before Verdão opened the scoring, he made a great save in a cross kick by Fabinho. Halfway through the opening stage, he returned to save on a shot by Matheus Ribeiro from the edge of the area. The performance was not perfect only because he faltered in Chapecoense’s goal by not stopping a low kick in his own corner.

Seven minutes enough for Verdão

Strictly following Abel Ferreira’s orders to attack from the first minute, Palmeiras was insistent in the attack and did not let Chapecoense react. Investing mainly on the right side, opened the scoring in a move by Patrick de Paula to Mayke. The low cross was repulsed in the middle of the area by Laércio, but the ball was left for Wesley, glued to the crossbar, to hit the goal in the 7th minute.

Luiz Adriano among the top 100

Eight minutes later, Luiz Adriano extended after a cross from the left. Again, Chape’s defense struggled to ward off the danger, and the center forward dived to head in the goal in the 15th minute. This was his 30th goal with the shirt of Palmeiras, entering the list of the 100 best scorers in the history of alviverde. The goal of the striker from Palmeira was only confirmed after checking by the VAR, which took six minutes to make the decision.

blitz alviverde hasn’t stopped

The score 2-0 in 15 minutes did not leave Palmeiras satisfied. There were two more clear opportunities to score before the third goal came out. In the first, Ron’s header went over goalkeeper Tiepo. Afterwards, Wesley gave the letter to Gustavo Scarpa. The midfielder came out facing the goal, but kicked to the left.

Wesley to Messi?

Wesley showed his talent again before the break, with a great goal in the 41st minute. He was fired by Gustavo Scarpa from the left. Even though he had three teammates in the area, he trusted the individual play, twisted Laércio with a pedal stroke and cut another opponent before kicking into the left corner. When asked who was inspired by the goal, he went straight: “I learned from the video of the Messi“.

Idling back

The electrifying Palmeiras of the first half did not show up to play the final stage. The obsessive search for the attack gave way to a well-positioned team with little firepower. In the first 30 minutes, the best chance created by Palmeiras came from a shot by Zé Rafael, who had come in for Patrick de Paula, who was injured.

more risky Chapecoense

The Verdão do Oeste, in turn, was more aware of the difficulties and tried to attack as much as its might. He managed to reduce the disadvantage after 8 minutes, in a free kick by Busanello, and came close to scoring the second goal soon after. Matheus Ribeiro had the chance on his feet, but finished it off.

Monotony to the end

The score was not defined, but Palmeiras controlled Chapecoense’s momentum well. The team from Santa Catarina had only one more chance to score, with Jailson making a defense in submission by Ansalmo Ramon. São Paulo, in turn, could no longer frighten Tiepo’s goal. Abel Ferreira preferred to give caution to his team with the departures of Luiz Adriano and Wesley, ensuring the first victory in the brazilian.
