On April 28, Christians of the Eastern rite celebrate the Feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem or Palm Sunday. This holiday does not have a fixed date because it depends on the date of Easter. After it, believers begin Holy Week, which ends with the feast of the Resurrection of Christ.

According to the Gospel, on Saturday Christ raised Lazarus, and the next day he went to Jerusalem. He rode into the city riding a donkey. And its residents, who learned about the miracle that Christ performed, greeted him with shouts of “Hosanna!” Previously, only the king was greeted this way.
The road before Christ was covered with palm branches. Therefore, this holiday is also called Palm Sunday. Palm trees do not grow in Ukraine, so in folk tradition they were replaced by willow branches. Traditionally, on the holiday, they are collected in bouquets and blessed in the church.
What not to do on Palm Sunday
Since ancient times, there have been certain prohibitions on this day. People believed that on this day one should not engage in physical labor or housework.
It was also believed that one should not swear, quarrel, conflict and wish harm to others.
The holiday falls during Lent, so you should not consume animal products or alcohol. But you can eat fish. You are also not allowed to visit entertainment venues.
It is believed that on Palm Sunday one should not refuse to help others.
