Moscow: Representatives from Palestinian political parties including Hamas and Fatah will meet in Moscow soon to discuss the formation of a unified Palestinian government, according to reports.
Al Jazeera’s reporter from Moscow, Yulia Shapovalova, said that there will be a meeting for at least three days to formulate a unified strategy related to the formation of the government, although there are many uncertainties related to the meeting.
“Russia has held similar meetings before and the first one. This is the fourth meeting of its kind. “This will help bring about reconciliation between all factions in Palestine,” Shapovalova said.
Mustafa Barghouti, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative, said, “We have never seen such a good atmosphere for integration and people are feeling the responsibility when their people are facing genocide.”
Barghouti told Al Jazeera that the talks will focus on forming a government aimed at ending the suffering of the people of Gaza and stopping the genocide by Israel.
At the same time, the Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Malki said that no miracles are expected from the meeting and the hope is that good results will be obtained in terms of mutual understanding between the different factions.
The new move comes days after Prime Minister Mohammad Sitay announced the resignation of the Palestinian Authority government that governs the territories in the West Bank.
