Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Jordan on Friday, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Hussein Al-Sheikh said early Thursday morning.
The Sheikh added, previously via the “X” platform, “Twitter”, that Abbas will also meet with Jordanian King Abdullah in Amman on Thursday.
The US State Department said that Blinken will travel to Israel and Jordan, where he will meet high-level officials.
The British Sky News network said that Blinken will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, and Jordanian King Abdullah II and the Palestinian President in Amman.
Four days ago, Abbas and Blinken spoke by phone, with the Palestinian president informing the American minister that “the continued injustice and oppression to which our people are subjected is what is pushing things towards explosion.”
He stressed that the reason for the ongoing escalation “is the practices of the colonialists and Israeli occupation forces, and the aggression against Islamic and Christian sanctities.”
In return, Blinken reaffirmed the United States’ “unequivocal condemnation of the terrorist attacks launched by Hamas against Israel.”
He urged the Palestinian Authority to follow up and strengthen measures aimed at restoring calm and stability in the West Bank.
