The Palestinian group “Hamas” told the negotiators that there are 40 Israeli hostages he can release as part of a temporary ceasefire agreement with Israel. This was reported on Wednesday by The Hill, citing its sources.
The confession raises questions about how many of the remaining hostages, kidnapped on October 7, are they alive and who is holding them. Israel claims 133 hostages out of more than 240 kidnapped that day – mostly Israelis and dual nationals – not yet released. At least 33 are dead.
The administration of the US president Joe Biden is pushing a plan where Israel and Hamas agree to a ceasefire the fire for six to eight weeks. This also depends on the release of hostages – older men, civilians and both male and female Israeli soldiers.

Biden: Netanyahu’s approach to Gaza war ‘mistake’
Israel’s military campaign against Gaza has come under increasing international criticism
Trima Sinove on the leader of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh were killed in an Israeli bombardment in the Shatti camp in Gaza City, Al Jazeera reports. The statement said several of their children, Haniya’s grandchildren, were also killed in the strike.
The Israeli military have not commented on the message.
Muslims today around the world celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan and many families gather together for the holidays – Ramadan Bayram or Eid al-Fitr.
Haniya told Al Jazeera that his children were visiting relatives for Eid in the Shatti refugee camp in northern Gaza when they were attacked.
The head of Hamas condemned this as brutality Israel’s actions, no stressed that Palestinian leaders will not back down, if their families and homes are attacked.
Both Israel and Hamas deny there has been any progress in the Gaza talks
The distance between the countries remains large
Israel considers the entire leadership of Hamas to be terrorists and accuses Hania and other leaders of continuing to “pull strings of the terrorist organization”.
However, it is not clear how much Haniya knew in advance for the October 7 attack on Israel by Gaza-based militants. The plan for the attack, drawn up by Hamas’s military council in the enclave, was kept so tightly secret that some of the group’s officials abroad appeared shocked by its timing and scale.
