Palestine vs Australia in 2026 World Cup Qualification: Emotional Match in Kuwait City

Kuwait City

Emotional match Palestine will be presented at 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone. The Canaanite lion played a home game but not at home due to the war.

Palestine will face Australia in the second match of Group G of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone. Palestine had home team status in that match.

However, the unfavorable situation in Gaza means that Palestine has to play outside its own country. Against Australia, they will compete at the Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium, Kuwait, Tuesday (21/11/2023).

Australian coach, Graham Arnold, admitted that he sympathized with the fate that befell Palestine. He promised that the match would bring a little happiness.

“We really sympathize with everyone with what happened,” Arnold said, as reported by the Star Tribune.

“But then again, this is a football game and it brings a lot of joy to everyone,” he explained.

The Palestinian camp itself is clearly disturbed by its situation. The players are still worried about relatives in their country, which is in the midst of fighting with Israel.

“The players were mostly in the hotel or on the bus catching up on the news on their mobile phones and communicating with their families,” said coach Makram Daboub

“They are constantly worried about the continuation of aggression and war in Palestine,” he said.

The match against Australia was Palestine’s second match in the Second Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asia Zone. Previously, they successfully held Lebanon to a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, Australia scored 7-0 in the match against Bangladesh. Victory over Palestine will bring the Socceroos closer to the 2026 World Cup finals.
