Palestine National Team his participation in it is doubtful Independence Cup 2023. Rumors that he would resign emerged amid the escalating situation with Israel.
The 2023 Merdeka Cup was initially contested by Palestine, along with hosts Malaysia, India and Tajikistan, who replaced Lebanon. The match will be held at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, 13-17 October.
A few days before the start of the tournament, Palestine began to have doubts about its participation due to the escalating situation with Israel. According to the New Straits Times, Palestine is said to be withdrawing from the tournament.
The Palestine Football Twitter account tweeted, “Palestinian friendly matches at the Merdeka Tournament could also be threatened. All border crossings and Lod airport (northwest of Jerusalem and southeast of Tel Aviv) are closed,” he tweeted.
A New Strait Times source even said, Palestine National Team will resign from Independence Cup 2023 because of the ongoing conflict.
The situation between Palestine and Israel has been heating up since last weekend. It started with an attack by Hamas guerrillas on Israeli territory, which was immediately responded to.
To date, it is reported that more than 1,000 people have died on both sides. Thousands of others were also injured.
Israel itself has declared war with Palestine. The situation is heating up with the latest report that Israel will completely blockade the Gaza Strip.
