PBB said Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital was the only hospital still operating in northern Gaza after repeated attacks Israel to territory controlled by Hamas Palestine.
A doctor at the hospital Ghassan Abu-Sittah said health care workers treated more than 500 patients, including some who were seriously injured. They work with very limited access to treatment because of the fighting taking place nearby.
He gave a gloomy picture of conditions at the hospital. According to him, there were only two operating rooms, three surgeons, and very little anesthesia supplies to treat the growing number of injured people.
“We are starting to receive injuries, initially due to airstrikes, but today also due to injuries from snipers. We have more than 500 injured people in hospital,” said Abu-Sittah, quoted CNNWednesday (15/11).
“We perform everyday procedures without anesthesia… We don’t have access to an operating room, and we try to save that for the most life-saving procedures,” he added.
He said his hospital had access to running water and food, which was brought in by ambulance.
He also said that although the hospital was not “physically surrounded,” he could “hear the building shaking continuously” from nearby fighting.
Earlier US President Joe Biden said Palestinian health centers “must be protected,” as a growing number of world leaders condemned the scale of civilian deaths in Gaza.
Israel accuses Hamas of building civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities. CNN unable to verify this claim.
Israel’s aggression in Gaza has so far killed more than 11,200 Palestinians, most of whom are children and women.
The condition of Gaza is becoming increasingly worrying day by day because the Zionist State is now intensifying attacks on hospitals. The civilians were surrounded from all corners. Israel even ruthlessly shot anyone and anything that moved.
