Palermo, money for the disabled in the accounts of the former League player. Kidnapping of 500 thousand euros for Tony Rizzotto

He had created a training institute for the disabled and social misfits with the solemn promise to insert them into the world of work, in reality a lot of funding would have ended up in his current account and in that of a close collaborator. Tony Rizzotto, the first Northern League official elected to the Sicilian parliament (he then left in controversy), is being investigated by embezzlement: this morning, the financiers of the Palermo economic and financial police force notified him of a seizure order worth 500 thousand EUR. Same provision for Alessandro Giammona, consultant of the association, the “Is.for.d.d”, which between 2012 and 2015 received 1.5 million funding, partly from the Region, partly from Europe.

“The complaints of some employees turned the spotlight on this association,” explains Colonel Gianluca Angelini, the commander of the economic and financial police force in Palermo. Investigations by the “Market protection of goods and services” Group found that transfers of 32,520 euros were issued from the association’s accounts in favor of Rizzotto, the president of “Is.for.d.d.”; Giammona, on the other hand, would have received almost 457 thousand euros, officially by way of compensation for his activity as external operations manager, “even if there was no working relationship with the entity,” writes the Guardia di Finanza in a statement.

Rizzotto, a former MPA regional deputy (the movement for autonomy), and a former president of the Health Commission at the Regional Assembly, had run on the “We with Salvini” list in 2017, hitting the election with 4,011 preferences. Then, however, last year he left the League denouncing “little democracy in the movement” and a few days ago he fell from the position of regional deputy, the Palermo Court of Appeal in fact declared him ineligible because he had not resigned from the training institution within 90 days from the end of the previous legislature.

“The regional legislation – reads the sentence – provides for the ineligibility for all legal representatives, administrators and managers of those companies and / or those private entities that carry out activities on behalf of the Region, consequently administering public funds”. Among these bodies also those of training such as Issford, on which the regional Department of Education had already raised some observations, noting “serious and evident accounting irregularities and cost statements”, for this reason the procedures had also been activated for the withdrawal of the loans.

Now, the investigation coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Sergio Demontis and Deputy Claudia Ferrari raises the veil over the entire management of an association that would have squandered public money. “The company continues to contrast crimes against the public administration – writes the Guardia di Finanza – which affect the performance of public bodies and the quality of services rendered to citizens, in particular in favor of the weaker sections of the community”.
