Divers are trying to reach the cabins of the yacht Bayesian, which sank in the middle of a storm in Palermo, as it is assumed that the missing people were sleeping at the time of the wreck. As Sky News reports, the large amount of furniture and debris makes their work difficult.
Search and rescue teams speculate that some of the furniture was moved as the boat capsized, blocking the doors and preventing passengers from escaping.
“The yacht is in a difficult position. It’s tilted to the side. They have to work under very difficult conditions and in a lot of heat,” says journalist Ashna Hurynag.
The efforts of the rescue conferences are being assisted by a remote-controlled search vehicle that has been sent to the east coast of Palermo.
“People are waiting perhaps to see the hull of the ship being raised, the boat itself being pulled out of the water. We’re not going to see that for a very long time,” says Hurynag. “The priority is to keep it in the same position as much as possible because it is intact and try to access it from the outside,” he adds.
As the search operation continues, investigators are trying to understand how the vessel sank. Key to the investigations will be the captain, who is in great shock.
Who are missing?
Twelve passengers and ten crew members, most of them British nationals, were on board.
According to a source close to the businessman, Mike Lynch had organized the cruise to celebrate with family members, some of his employees and his lawyers his acquittal in June in a US fraud case.
Known by the nickname “the British Bill Gates”, o Michael Lynch ignored, as well his 18-year-old daughter Hannah. His wife Angela Bakaris was rescued, as were 14 other people.

Only a corpse it is currently withdrawn. According to the Italian press, it is about the chef of the yacht, who was born in Canada, but is a citizen of Antigua.
