According to him, “the inclusion of Greece in the Russian gas pipeline – Turkish Stream” will be beneficial for Greece, because in this way the country will have another source of gas and will increase its energy security.
“If we receive gas from Russia, then we will have greater security of supply,” Paleoyannis told the Russian news agency Sputnik, adding that “Russia has proven that it is a reliable gas supplier to Europe.” According to him, “Iran cannot be an alternative to Russia in this sector, which will remain a major supplier for Europe.” However, he explained that “Iran could be an additional supplier if the Western sanctions against Tehran are lifted and if there are no other obstacles to Iran’s entry into the European market.”
