Palembang is currently entering the transition season. As a result of these conditions, the Palembang City Health Service noted an increase in cases of diarrhea.
Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Palembang City Health Service, Yudhi Setiawan, said the total number of diarrhea cases in Palembang is 24,569, including 10,693 cases of child diarrhea and 13,876 adult diarrhea cases.
The detailed data on diarrhea cases from January 2024 to September 2024 is January 2,842 cases, February 2,776 cases, March 2,400 cases, April 2,340 cases, May 2,820 cases, June 2,479 cases, July 3,067 cases, August 2,810 and September 5.

“Judging from the data, the highest cases of diarrhea occurred in July, which reached 3,067 cases,” he said, Wednesday (30/10/2024).
Yudhi explained that most cases of diarrhea in Palembang City occurred at the Gandus Health Center. Diarrhea is a disease that attacks the digestive system. In principle, food and drinks that enter the mouth must be clean.
“A ban must continue to comply with PHBS. Wash your hands with soap and running water before coming into contact with food or drink. , there should be no waste. “It is not closed so it will attract flies which are one of the animals that spread diarrhoea,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Palembang Harbor Hospital, Dr. Prijo Wahjuana, said that there is currently a transition season where several diseases in the transition season often occur, such as dengue fever, diarrhea, ISPA or put out.
“There was no increase in cases of dengue fever or diarrhea at the Port Hospital, even if there were 1-2 cases, we quickly reported them to the Palembang Health Office,” he said.
Diseases that appear in this transitional season are caused by viruses. Therefore, his party appealed to the people of Palembang to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle to avoid viruses.
