The Correismo assemblywoman Monica Palacios has announced on his X account that the only person still alive accused of the murder of the former presidential candidate Fernando Villavicenciothe recluse Carlos Angulocould be murdered if he is transferred from the El Inca prison, in Quito, where he is currently located, to the Litoral Penitentiary, as ordered by the SNAI.

The order to transfer Angulo, signed by General Zaldumbide, and which Palacios has displayed in his X account, states that the transfer is in compliance “with the recommendations issued by the members of the prison security body” and indicates that “in the safety” of the inmate.

Inmate’s Wish

Assemblywoman Palacios’ complaint goes against the wishes of Carlos Angulo himself, who since September 2023 has been insisting, through a habeas corpus petition, on being transferred from the prison where he is located.

Carlos Angulo Lara was already detained on August 9 when Fernando Villavicencio was murdered outside the Ánderson school, in the north of Quito. Angulo was captured on January 31, 2022, after the Police found eight firearms, 13 magazines and 235 cartridges of different calibers in his home, according to the Expreso newspaper.

Three months later it was sentenced to 54 months in prisonfor three crimes: trafficking of weapons, drugs and reception.
