The Commander of the United States Armed Forces or the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Mark A Milley, met the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa. The meeting was held ahead of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)’s working visit to China. Is there any connection?
Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said the visit of the US Commander in Chief to Indonesia was normal. According to Moeldoko, the meeting of the military commanders was to strengthen friendship.
“It’s a common thing. Forums. People to people, a meeting between the commanders. That’s a natural thing. Because there is a need to strengthen communication so that friendship gets better from time to time,” Moeldoko told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday (25/7/2022). Moeldoko answered whether there was a connection between the visit of the US Commander in Chief to Indonesia and Jokowi’s planned visit to China.

Moeldoko said visits were also common for TNI commanders to other countries. This visit aims to exchange ideas and views.
“Then the second one, we usually also visit the commander of a country to exchange ideas, to discuss-delivery we want it this way. That’s what we usually do so that other countries also understand that Indonesia has an attitude in looking at what kind of environmental situation,” he added.
US Commander Meets General Andika
Previously reported, General Andika Perkasa welcomed the honorary arrival of General Mark A. Milley. General Mark A. Milley’s visit is the first in 14 years.
“So this visit from the Commander of the Armed Forces, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is the first in the last 14 years,” said Andika Perkasa at the TNI Headquarters Plaza, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Sunday (24/7).
According to Andika, the visit of the Commander of the United States Armed Forces shows that the Indonesian military is one of the priorities. He felt valuable for this visit.
