Visitors to the Palace of Versailles were again evacuated on Tuesday due to a bomb threat. The doors of the tourist attraction near Paris will remain closed for the rest of the day.
Last Saturday, visitors to Versailles and the Louvre were evacuated. According to reports, the visitors were in danger, but a day later it turned out to be a false alarm.
The evacuations came a day after the fatal stabbing at a school in Arras, northern France. Tension has risen in France after the fatal stabbing. As a result, the threat level has been raised to the highest level.
On Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he would deploy seven thousand soldiers for additional patrols. Macron described the killing in Arras as an act of “barbaric Islamic terrorism”.
