Pathanapuram: Film and drama actress, dubbing artiste and singer Pala Thankam (84) has passed away. Thankam, who has been an inmate of Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram since September 2013, passed away at 7.35 last night. Culture later.

Born as the daughter of Kunjukuttan at Sarathchandra Bhavan, Vellore, Thiruvathukal, Kottayam, Radhamani adopted the name Pala Thankam when she entered the art world. At the age of 15, he entered the film industry singing the song ‘Taraka Malarukal Vadi, Thazhathu Nizhalukal Moodi’ in Alleppey Vincent’s ‘Kedavilakki’. He later proved his acting prowess in plays along with singing. He has worked in Ponkunnam Varkey’s Kerala Theaters, KPAC, Changanassery Geetha and many other theater societies. He has acted in over 100 films and voiced the characters in over 500 films.

Sathyan’s mother played the lead role in the 1963 film ‘Rebecca’. BS Saroja and Gracie were also voiced in the same film. In the 1971 film ‘Boban and Molly’, Baby Sumathi and Master Sekhar provided voice acting in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films.

In 2018, Sangeetha Nataka Academy honored him with the Gurupooja Award. Even after coming to Gandhi Bhavan, he acted in movies. She last acted in the movie Kinar.

Her husband Sreedharan Thampi, who was an SI, died 25 years ago. The children are the late dubbing artist Ambili, Somasekaran Thampi and Bahuleyan Thampi.
