Pakistan Team Director Mickey Arthur Reveals Squad for 2023 World Cup and Asia Cup

Sports Desk July 11, 2023

Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur gave a big hint about the Pakistan team for this year’s World Cup and Asia Cup. Mickey’s response has come at a time when the Pakistan government is hesitant to send the team to India. Arthur said that the same team that was fielded for the series against New Zealand in January this year will be fielded for the World Cup and Asia Cup.

The same team that played against New Zealand will be coming to Asia Cup and World Cup. There won’t be much difference. Haris Sohail was in that team but he did not play due to fitness issues. “But there is not much difference between the team we had for the New Zealand series and the team going for these events,” said Arthur.

The Men in Green will play the Asia Cup in September before heading to India for the much-anticipated World Cup in October-November. The Asia Cup will be held from August 31 to September 17. On the other hand, the World Cup is scheduled to take place from October 5 to November 19. Pakistan are widely considered as one of the favorites for both the matches.

Although they have not won either premier tournament in recent years, the Babar Azam-led team has the potential to win both of them. Pakistan now have a strong all-round squad. They can go all year with this team. Pakistan have not won the World Cup since 1992 when they won the title for the first time. Their last Asia Cup title was in 2012.
