The previous lowest total defended in New Zealand was in 2021. The lowest total defended by Australia that day was 156 runs.

This is the second time New Zealand have been bowled out for less than 100 runs in the T20 format. Before this, Kiwis were eliminated against Pakistan in 2010. The Black Caps were all out for 80 runs that day.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat in the match at Hagley Oval. Batting first, Pakistan scored 134 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan scored 38 runs in 38 balls and Fakhar Zaman scored 33 runs in 16 balls.

Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henty took two wickets each as Kiwis bowled well as Pakistan were limited to 134 runs.

In reply, New Zealand were bowled out for 92 runs in 17.2 overs. In the Pakistan bowling line, Iftikhar Ahmed took three wickets and Mohammad Nawaz and Shaheen Afridi took two wickets each, but the Black Caps batting was broken.

Only Glenn Phillips and Finn Allen managed to score more than 20 in the New Zealand batting line-up.

Meanwhile, the Kiwis had already won the series by winning all four matches of the five-match series.
