Pakistan holds memorial service for Chinese teachers killed in Karachi terror attack – Xinhua English.news.cn

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (Xinhua) — Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday held a memorial service for Chinese teachers killed in the terrorist attack at the Confucius Institute at the University of Karachi.

Paying tribute to the Chinese victims, Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the country salutes their passion and dedication.

On April 26, an explosion hit a shuttle bus from the Confucius Institute at the University of Karachi, killing three Chinese teachers and injuring one and several Pakistani victims.

The Chinese victims were dedicated, caring and caring teachers who carried out the noble mission of teaching Chinese language to Pakistani students and building bridges between the peoples of the two countries, Zardari said.

“We are all shocked, anguished and saddened by this terrible loss. It is a loss for the nation of Pakistan as much as a loss for China.”

The Chinese teachers came from different backgrounds and ages, but all came for a common cause and with an unwavering desire to serve the timeless friendship between the peoples of Pakistan and China, Zardari said.

Pledging to provide full and maximum security to Chinese nationals in Pakistan, the minister said the entire nation is determined to ensure their safety and comfort in the country.

Pakistan will not cease that the perpetrators of these acts are punished in an exemplary manner, he underlined.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pang Chunxue, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, again condemned the terrorist attack and expressed condolences for the deceased, adding that China appreciates the government’s determination. Pakistani people to bring the culprits to justice.
