Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Political Observer and Director of Lingkar Madani (Lima) Ray Rangkuti quipped about volunteers supporting the President Joko Widodo aka Projo who ‘failed’ to declare Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the National Working Meeting at the Indonesia Arena.
According to him, the State Palace has begun to read the public’s excitement about Jokowi and his family’s maneuvers. Moreover, Jokowi’s eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka is predicted to become Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate.
“Yesterday’s Projo event (rakernas) was half a success in my opinion. It was successful in gathering a lot of people, yes, it brought in Pak Jokowi, yes, but it didn’t reach gong The event was a declaration against one of the presidential candidates at that place. “In the end the declaration was made at Prabowo’s house,” he said in a public discussion in Tebet, South Jakarta, Sunday (15/10).
“In my opinion, the Palace has read the signal that people are starting to get annoyed with the current situation. But this continues, as if it is getting out of control. Projo came to Prabowo’s house and expressed support, even though Pak Jokowi said don’t rush. It’s starting to get out of control, play alone – alone,” continued Ray.
Even though the Palace is considered to have started reading the situation in society, Ray said the negative response to the Jokowi family’s maneuvers would continue to increase. In fact, Ray predicts that the PDI Perjuangan will soon impose sanctions on Jokowi and Gibran.
According to him, Gibran, whose name is being considered as Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate, does not seem to be tied to the PDI Perjuangan. Therefore, he asked Jokowi’s eldest son to immediately express his position.
“PDIP will probably make calculations especially against Gibran and it is possible that it will reach Pak Jokowi. My guess is that they (PDIP) will not remain silent,” warned Ray.
“Evaluate Gibran’s membership as a PDIP member, whether it will still be maintained like the current situation. These young people feel they have no party or ties to anyone,” he continued.
Ray asked that if Gibran was indeed willing to become Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate, regardless of the age provisions in the Election Law, he must immediately state this to the public. In fact, he urged the mayor of Solo to resign from his PDIP membership so that his party would not be burdened.
Previously, Projo was scheduled to declare support for Prabowo Subianto at the National Working Meeting on Saturday (14/10). However, the general chairman of the Gerindra Party was unable to attend.
President Jokowi and the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, were also not present at the National Working Meeting.
In the end, Projo led by Budi Arie declared support for Prabowo Subianto at Kertanegara IV, South Jakarta. However, this declaration was not attended by Jokowi and Gibran.
On the other hand, the Constitutional Court (MK) is currently handling a lawsuit regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates in the Election Law. There is a lawsuit asking for the age limit to be lowered from 40 years to 35 years. There is also a lawsuit asking for a final age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates of 70 years.
The Constitutional Court is scheduled to decide on the case regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates on Monday (16/10).
