As expected, it was on August 19 that work began on the fresco in tribute to the actor Michel Coté in Alma, on the north face of the Paul-Tremblay building. The commissioned artists were present on the ground.
Kevin Ledo, a portrait painter from Montreal who is particularly known for his urban work, was chosen for the project after a call for tenders. He will be supported by Jamie Janx Johnston, who is also the production director, as well as L’Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur artist Shana Patry.
Last Monday, Kevin Ledo revealed some details about the concept direction for the mural.
“The design will be inspired by his films [à Michel Côté] more joyful, to his conversations, about which we find certain signs. The fresco will be very colorful and will have a theatrical style with an abstract touch. »
The man who is particularly talented in reproducing faces confirms that he will use the features specific to the wall of the Paul-Tremblay building to highlight the portrait of the late actor from Alma.
Kevin Ledo has been creating urban murals for 11 years and he specifies that the dimensions of the wall (53 ft x 35 ft) are also ideal for him.
For his part, Jamie Janx Johnston says he is not at all worried about the final result. Although he feels “special pressure because this is Alma’s first”, he says he has full confidence in the painter Kevin Ledo.
“You chose the portrait master to paint a beautiful picture, so I think everything will turn out well! “”
Usually the fresco should be ready within ten days. Kevin Ledo and Jamie Janx Johnston are affiliated with the LNDMRK company.
