Hassan Shehata, Minister of Labor, announced today, Thursday, that next Thursday, corresponding to September 28, 2023, is a paid holiday for workers in the private sector on the occasion of the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday, in light of the issuance of Prime Minister’s Resolution No. 3491 of 2023, which includes Thursday being an official paid holiday for workers. In ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, public sector companies, the public business sector, and the private sector, instead of the Gregorian date corresponding to the 12th of the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 1445 AH, in accordance with what the Sharia vision will result in, and within the framework of ensuring the unification of official vacation dates for all workers in the state sectors. Diversify whenever possible to achieve the social and national purpose of official holidays on occasions and holidays.
Shehata said in a statement that this leave is with full pay for workers addressed by Law 12 of 2003. The employer may employ the worker on this day if the working conditions require it, and in this case the worker is entitled to double his daily wage in addition to his wage for this day.
On this occasion, the Minister of Labor congratulated all the workers of Egypt and the Arab and Islamic nation on this occasion, wishing that God Almighty would return it with goodness, right and blessings.
The Ministry issued a periodic letter to the labor directorates in the governorates, signed by Khaled Abu Bakr, Head of the Central Administration for Workforce Welfare, and Hanan Ahmed Ali, Director General of the Ministry’s General Department of Labor Relations, in order to put its provisions into effect and follow up on the implementation of this license at work sites and production in establishments and companies.
