Not only that walk regularlybut it is also returned to do the job that he loves. And for which he was risking losing a leg: despite not being physically present, the protagonist of the press point organized by the Hospital was Marco Scuderi, deputy brigadier of the carabinieri who in July last year he had been hit in Vicolo Castelfidardo and crushed against a wall by a car driven by a 55-year-old That, went there to see his ex-wife (despite being banned from approaching), he then died.

The risk of amputation and treatments

An affair that had shaken public opinion, as to cause the death of Haxhi Collakuof Albanian origins, they were the gunshots fired by the vice-brigadier’s colleaguewho thus saved his life as the man was lunging at him to attack him again with a switchblade. Marco Scuderi’s condition immediately appeared very serious, so much so that in the hours immediately following the incident the hypothesis that his leg would have to be amputated due to the rupture of the artery it was the most probable one. To avoid this eventuality, thus performing a true miracle – not the only one, but certainly the most “famous” – it was the complex operational unit of Vascular Surgery directed by Professor Franco Grego: thanks to three delicate interventions and a long rehabilitation, in fact, now the vice-brigadier walks without particular problems. He himself tells in a video the sensations experienced in these long months.

Healing in the mirror

«What did I feel when I arrived at the hospital immediately after being hit? Obviously sensing that I was about to lose a limb devastated me mentallybecause at 36 I think it’s one of the saddest things you can suffer. After the last intervention, however, I understood that I had now averted this risk: it was one of the best news I could have received. Furthermore, I myself had the feeling that things were going in the right direction: I felt and saw that my condition was constantly improvingand with them also grew the hope that the leg would function properly again.”

The doctor and interventions

It’s the Greek teacher to go into detail about the operations to which Marco Scuderi underwent in the super-technological hybrid room of the hospital: «The first, fThe essential objective was to get oxygenated blood circulating again to avoid the risk of amputation, and it was done immediately. The next day a was made second operation to promote tissue vascularization who had unfortunately suffered the trauma. After another two-three days in which the situation was in precarious balance we carried out a femorodistal reconstruction which also affected the arteries of the foot, because otherwise what was done previously would have been of no use: it was an operation that lasted many hours and ended late in the evening, but judging by his condition I would say that the result was excellent. Honestly – concludes Grego – at the beginning we didn’t think he had much chance of saving his legand instead seeing him walk is exciting.”
