Luis Arraez hit a go-ahead grounder in the top of the 10th inning, and Tanner Scott earned the save in the bottom of the frame as the red-hot San Diego Padres beat the host Miami Marlins 9-8 on Saturday.

Both Arraez and Scott were traded by the Marlins to the Padres this year. Arraez went 2-for-6 with three RBIs. Scott pitched one scoreless inning, striking out Jake Burger with two runners on to end the game and earn his first save for San Diego and 19th of the season.

Padres third baseman Manny Machado, a Miami native, made the key defensive play of the game, throwing out Vidal Brujan at the plate in the 10th inning.

The Padres won their seventh straight game, the longest active streak in the majors.

San Diego scored in the first inning when Arraez singled and scored from first on Jake Cronenworth’s double to the gap in left-center field.

The Padres made it 2-0 in the third when Jurickson Profar singled with two outs, advanced on a hit by pitch and scored on Machado’s single off the glove of second baseman Otto Lopez.

San Diego extended its lead to 3-0 in the fourth when David Peralta doubled and scored on Ha-Seong Kim’s single.

Miami got on the board in the fourth when Brujan hit a 415-foot home run to center.

The Marlins sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth inning. The comeback began with a single by Xavier Edwards and a walk by Burger. Jesus Sanchez tied the score 3-3 with a two-run double to opposite field in left.

Moments later, Lopez did the same in right field, giving Miami a 5-3 lead. The final runs of the comeback were scored on Derek Hill’s sacrifice fly and Jhonny Pereda’s RBI single.

In the seventh, the Padres loaded the bases with no outs on three straight singles before Arraez and Cronenworth hit RBI groundouts. On the final play, Marlins shortstop Edwards made a stellar play to get a force out at second.

The Padres scored three runs in the eighth. First, Xander Bogaerts walked and Jackson Merrill hit a two-run homer.

Peralta then doubled and was replaced by pinch-runner Bryce Johnson, who raced to third on Kim’s sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Arraez hit an infield single to Lopez at second, giving San Diego an 8-7 lead.

Miami tied the score at 8-8 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Burger took advantage of a 98 mph fastball from reliever Adrian Morejon. Burger’s drive hit the top of the right-center field wall before continuing over the fence.

Robert Suarez (7-1) won for the Padres and Miami’s John McMillon (0-1) took the loss.
