Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Business owner Pork rice named Sergio was taken to Kelapa Gading Police, North Jakarta for questioning, Friday (10/6).

However, Kelapa Gading Police Chief Kompol Vokky Sagala did not explain further what information would be extracted from the business owner.

“Take it to the police first, we’ll ask for information first,” said Vokky to reporters.

Previously, two members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Andre Rosiade and Guspardi Gaus criticized the Minangkabau culinary business that sells pork rendang menu.

Andre said the culinary business had caused unrest in the Minang community because it sold food made from pork.

“I’ve heard about restaurants in Jakarta that make Minang people nervous. This is because the restaurant processes pork into dishes in the form of rendang,” said Andre when confirmed CNNIndonesia.comFriday (10/6).

Andre said that many Minang people protested against the pork rendang, the rendang sold by the culinary business. Andre, who is also the Daily Chairperson of the Minang Family Association (IKM) DPP also appealed to the culinary business to eliminate Minang elements and no longer sell pork rendang.

Separately, Guspardi Gaus said that Nasi Padang with various menus was a culinary product from Minangkabau which should have halal status.

“What is the purpose and motive of the restaurant owner to provide non-halal food using the typical Minangkabau menu name?” he said.

The PAN politician suspected that the culinary business owner used and boosted the fame of Minangkabau food for business, but ignored ethics and damaged the traditions and image of Minangkabau cuisine, and violated the customs and culture of the Minangkabau people.

“The use of Minangkabau identity in the menu of non-halal Padang cuisine is clearly unusual and unacceptable,” he said.

Meanwhile, quoting from detik.com. Sergio as the business owner admitted that he was surprised that his culinary business had gone viral. According to him, the business has not operated for a long time.

“I was also surprised (the effort went viral),” said Sergio at the RW 11 Office of Kelapa Gading Timur Village, North Jakarta, Friday.

Sergio said the business started during the Corona pandemic or early 2020. He said the business only lasted about 3 months.
