Padang (ANTARA) – The Health Service of Padang City, West Sumatra is strengthening outreach on the importance of eliminating mosquito nests (PSN) and 3M Plus to anticipate cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD ).
“Puskesmas and posyandu have been asked to communicate intensively with the PSN and 3M Plus community, including the promotion of the one-house larvae inspection program (jumantik),” said the Sub-Coordinator for Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases (P2PM) of the Padang City Health Office, Evawestari, in Padang, Monday.
He said that eliminating mosquito nests and 3M (draining bathtubs, closing water reservoirs, and recycling used products) were very effective in preventing dengue fever.
In addition, in order to prevent dengue fever, the party has made PSN by doing cooperation in places that need to be cleaned and after that it will be fogged.
“If there is more than one house that has larvae and the level is higher than 5 percent, it is necessary to smoke. However, if there is only one house that has larvae and it is still on the side of within the 5 percent limit, it means the other houses are clean.” therefore more attention must be paid to the owner of the infected house,” he said.
He also appealed to the public to use wire mesh in house ventilation, wear long-sleeved clothes, then use anti-mosquito lotion and medicine to avoid dengue fever.
Padang City Health Service recorded the number of dengue fever cases in the period January-September 2024 reaching 395 incidents.
This number details 48 January cases, 40 February cases, 34 March cases, 36 April cases, 47 May cases, 50 June cases, 49 July cases, 47 August cases, and 44 cases in September.
