Pachuca eliminates Herediano and advances in the Concachampions

Without complications, Pachuca beat Costa Rican Herediano 2-1 (7-1 on aggregate) and sealed their place in the semifinals of the Concachampions, where a close duel against América is expected. Los Tuzos reiterated their hierarchy with goals from Bryan González and Salomón Rondón to maintain their aspirations for the regional title.

The series was almost over since the previous duel, when Pachuca showed its potential by beating Herediano, coached by Mexican Héctor Pity Altamirano, as a visitor. Now, it was just a matter of maintaining control and waiting to make the pass.

The Tuzos went from less to more and at the beginning of the complement they displayed the best in their offense. With just a few minutes on the court, Eduardo Javier La Chofis López sent a pass to Bryan González, who finished with a header from the center of the area to increase Pachuca’s tally on the overall score.

Los Tuzos would not settle and almost immediately they would score another goal and again with an assist from López. Upon receiving a deep pass, Salomón Rondón (59), Pachuca’s star striker, showed his ability as a net-breaker by finishing at point-blank range.

La Chofis López had become a key element of the Pachuca attack, but his good performance would be short-lived because almost immediately he suffered an injury and had to leave the game, although he did so with the recognition of the fans when he was applauded.

Heredino was able to say goodbye to the tournament in a decent manner by taking advantage of a mistake by Pachuca, when Everardo Rubio scored a penalty after Andrés Micolta committed a handball.
