Pachuca announces the 2nd National Wire Masters Meeting, an art and culture event

Pachuca prepares to receive the 2nd National Meeting of Wire Masterswhich will take place in Plaza Independencia on August 16, 17 and 18.

This event, which seeks to highlight the talent of artisans who work with wire, is presented as a platform for the promotion and appreciation of artisanal art in Mexico.

The initiative, conceived approximately eight years ago by a local craftsman together with the then coordinator of the group Pachoacan, was successfully implemented for the first time last year.

At a recent press conference, jury member Alfredo Álvarez Pérez highlighted that the event is a “watershed event” that highlights the importance of the artisan’s work. “The work of the artisan is really being valued,” said Alvarez Perez, stressing the objective of recognizing the “urban” craftsman both as an artist and as a creator.

This year, the meeting includes a contest where the three best works will be awarded prizes. The prizes will be one thousand pesos for third place, one thousand five hundred pesos for second place, and two thousand pesos for first place.

The selection of the winners will be carried out by a jury composed of artisans with a recognized track record, thus ensuring impartiality in the awards.

Armando Zamora, another member of the event, explained that the dynamics of the contest involve artisans creating a piece from scratch during the event, with the awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday, August 18.

In addition to the competition, attendees will be able to enjoy Cultural presentations including rock, blues, jazz and other musical genres, providing a complete cultural experience.

The first edition of the event was attended by 20 artisans, and this year it is hoped that this number will be surpassed.

The call for registration is open until August 7, inviting artisans from all over the country to be part of this event.
