“Pacers” leader Oladipo will not help his team at the end of the season – Basketball – Apollo.lv – Sports

The athlete explained his intention not to play at the end of the season with caution against his right knee, who had previously undergone surgery. Oladipo stated that this time will be devoted to regaining shape for all 100%.

“I really want to play. I’m a fighter and also a teammate, so it rips me apart,” the basketball player said in a conversation with The Athletic. “I feel like the rehabilitation is going well and I’m getting closer to being in perfect shape.”

“There is a high risk that I may damage the soft tissues, which does not give me peace of mind, as a result of which I would not feel comfortable in the area.”

Oladipo suffered a rupture of the leg’s thigh muscle 17 months ago in a game against Toronto, but he underwent surgery at the end of January last year.

“We fully respect and support Victor’s decision not to play Orlando,” a Pacers spokesman said. “Health has always been a priority for our players.”

“The short preparation time and the lack of basketball games prevent Oladipo from showing the highest performance. We are looking forward to their line-up in the new season.”

Although the basketball player will not go on the field, Oladipo has also decided to go to Orlando, where he will train with the team.

The basketball player left the field for the first time this season only on January 29 and played a total of 13 matches. During that time, Oladipo scored an average of 13.8 points, won 3.2 rebounds and made three assists.

Several basketball players have already indicated that they will not go to the final phase of the season. Each motivation was different, but the Latvian Dāvis Bertāns was the first to announce such a decision.

Bertāns will have the opportunity to sign the biggest contract of his career this summer, so, taking into account the knee injuries previously gained in his career, it has been decided not to go on the field anymore.

The agency LETA has already reported that in the second round of NBA coronavirus testing, Covid-19 was detected in nine of the 344 basketball players tested.

The second round of testing took place from June 24 to 29. Taking into account the results of the first round, in total 25 out of 351 basketball players tested positive for Covid-19.

The NBA also reports that ten of 884 team members have been infected with Covid-19.

The Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers have already closed their training centers.

The NBA season will resume on July 31 with 22 teams meeting at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

The closing of the season’s tournament in Orlando has caused concern for many, as more than 10,000 new cases were diagnosed in the state of Florida on Thursday, the highest number since the pandemic began.
