Muentes was transferred from the Cotopaxi Deprivation of Liberty Center to La Roca in Guayaquil on Saturday, March 30. This movement occurred shortly after Mayra Salazar, involved in the Metastasis case, provided testimony about Muentes’ alleged illegal activities in relation to lands in Guayas and his alleged control over provincial justice.
Salazar’s testimony also included information about “arrangements of judicial rulings” against current President Daniel Noboa. These revelations are part of a broader investigation that involves several political and judicial actors in Ecuador.
