Pablo Andújar is the second player confirmed for the Club Tenis Albacete Legends Cup

The tennis player from Cuenca joins David Ferrer in this second edition of the Legends Tournament that will be held in Albacete next September

Tennis player Pablo Andújar, born in Cuenca but living in Valencia throughout his sporting career, will compete in the II Copa Leyendas de Albacete, which will take place on 21 and 22 September at the Club Tenis Albacete.

After David Ferrer, who confirmed his participation a few days ago, Andújar is the second tennis player who will be on the central court of the Albacete club on those days.

A professional since 2003, the Cuenca native retired from the ATP circuit in 2023. Throughout his career he won 4 ATP tournaments, two in Casablanca, 2011 and 2012, Gstaad 2014 and the last one in Marrakech 2018. He has also triumphed in 11 ATP Challengers. In addition, he has played in another 5 ATP circuit finals. His highest ranking has been 32nd place reached in 2015.

In Grand Slam events, he has reached the round of 16 at the US Open and the third round at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Coinciding with the end of their respective sporting careers, Pablo Andújar achieved his most important victory, especially at a media level, after beating Roger Federer at the Geneva Open in 2021.

Pablo Andújar has been part of the national Davis Cup team on several occasions. He is currently the director of a Challenger tournament in Valencia.

The Cuenca native won the Albacete City International Tennis Trophy in 2012 against Roberto Bautista and in 2016, beating Rubén Ramírez in the final.

The Albacete Tennis Club is waiting to close its budget and thus confirm in the next few days the two remaining tennis players to complete the team. Currently, talks are being held with players of the level of Feliciano López, Fernando Verdasco, Marc López or the Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela. The club also does not rule out the participation of Guillermo García López or Nicolás Almagro.
