After Napoli’s loss to Verona, Milan had the chance to become the leader in Serie A alone. The Rossoneri had to beat city rivals Inter, which were themselves keen on the victory to narrow the gap with the leading duo.
The visitors took the lead after ten minutes when the ball hit the spot. Calhanoglu, who was with Milan last season, hurt the home team with the 0-1.
The black-and-blue joy was short-lived, as Milan came alongside thanks to an own goal from the unfortunate De Vrij. Inter then missed an excellent opportunity to take the lead again. A pale Martinez couldn’t get the ball past Milan goalkeeper Tatarusanu on a new penalty.
That miss broke Inter sourly, as no more goals were scored after the break. Substitute Alexis Saelemaekers was still very close to 2-1 in the final. A shot by the Red Devil hit the post.
Due to the draw, Napoli and Milan remain in the lead in Serie A. First pursuer Inter follows on 7 points from the two leaders.
