Thrissur: P.T. Director Cibi Malail said that the films done by Kunju Muhammad are few in number. His and Kunju Muhammad’s film careers are of the same age. PT is a platform to voice the position and politics. Saw his movies too. However, it was not recognized as it deserved. His films have been winning national awards, he said while inaugurating a seminar on ‘PT: Kalaum Kalam’ at the Sahitya Akademi. Institutions, including the Film Academy, did not achieve their goals regardless of whose time it was. CB also pointed out that the Academy needs to be able to recruit non-mainstream filmmakers and make them feel that the institution belongs to them.
Director Priyanandanan said in the chairman’s speech that even in the international film festival of the Department of Culture, the trend of excluding Malayalees should be changed by including only foreign juries. In the function, Kalamandalam Kshemavathi shared the memories of her friendship with P.T. Tea artist Sunny Joseph, Ashokan Charuvil, N.K. Akbar MLA, actor Irshad, V.K. Joseph, Umar Tharmael, P.S. Iqbal and Anwar Kohinoor delivered speeches.
