P.-O. – Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet: new municipal elections on Sundays 22 and 29 November

The Montpellier administrative court had annulled the March elections.

On Tuesday, September 22, the Montpellier administrative court annulled the elections of municipal councilors on Sunday, March 15 *. To make this decision, the court relied on the electoral code which stipulates that “the omission of nationality on the ballot papers of candidates who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union other than France taints it. only these invalidity bulletins “. However, the German nationality of one of the candidates of the list “All together for Saint-Paul”, led by the outgoing mayor Jacques Bayona, was not mentioned on the ballots. An oversight which had not escaped Ludovic Servant, at the head of the “Saint-Paul otherwise” list, and who had thus seized the court.

Following this cancellation, the Prades sub-prefecture had to proceed with the establishment of a new full partial municipal election. In a decree dated Monday, October 5, the sub-prefect of Prades, Dominique Fossat, fixed it for Sunday November 22 for the first ballot, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday November 29 in the event of a second round. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pending the holding of these elections, a special delegation will be set up to manage the municipality.

* During the elections of Sunday March 15, the list “All together for Saint-Paul” of Jacques Bayona had obtained 68.41% of the votes, or 15 elected, and that of Ludovic Servant “Saint-Paul otherwise” 31.59% of the votes, that is to say 3 elected.
