Born in 1934 as the youngest daughter of the EK Kunjanmenon-Meenakshikuttiamma couple in the Palakkad Chittoor Porayattu family. She started studying music from childhood. She made her musical debut at the age of twelve in Madras under the auspices of ‘Andhramahilasabha’. In the 1946 Tamil film “Kanganam”, she “Srivaralakshmi Divya …”. He sang many Malayalam songs. Children of many generations have heard this song. Only the song ‘Kannum Pootti Uppuka Neen’ composed by Dakshinamurthy in Snehaseema in 1954 is enough to get many of today’s grandparents to sing too. In the 1950 film Shri, Chidambaranath also sang Iraimman Thambi’s Taratu Omanathingalkitao song, composed by Chidambaranath.
She started singing with Yesudas in the movie Vidhi Tanna Valak. Later there were many duets. P Leela initially gained most of the attention through V Dakshinamurthy’s songs.
