Özz Nujen came to Sweden with his family when he was eight years old. The family’s first years in Sweden were spent in the Stockholm suburb Rinkeby and later in Järfälla, where quarrels and fights became everyday for the boisterous comedian.
– Often it was gang fights that you ended up in and there you have no chance. Because you can be as good as you want at fighting and if there’s a knife in your back, you’re done, says Nujen in “Min sanning”.
It wasn’t until the comedian finished high school that the turning point came. Then he moved to Boden for military service.
– Then I decided that I could look at myself in the mirror and be proud. And now there will be a change, he says in the program.
Nujen was placed as an explosives expert – funny, he thinks, who describes himself as a young and angry Muslim at the time.
The message to friends: Never call me again
Özz Nujen describes the time in Boden as a period of contemplation. It was also then that he decided to build his own platform.
– So I also thought that no one can stop me now. Neither my parents nor syo nor my friends, colleagues, notes Nujen and continues:
– I actually canceled the acquaintance with all my friends. I called each one and said, “You must never call me again. I never want to hear from you” I wanted to start a new life.
When the comedian came back to Stockholm, he focused on football and later got a warehouse job through his coach – at the same time he applied to various theater schools to focus on an acting career.
