It is legally and morally reprehensible for Turkish Cypriot political parties to conduct political campaigns related to elections in Turkey or another country, to support such campaigns, to try to gather votes, People’s Party (PL) leader Kudret Ozersay said.
According to the GTP, the Turkish press writes today that Mr. Ozersai noted that “if they are sincere about the independence of our state, they should refrain from such activities, because this would mean an invitation for political interventions in the future.” Such political activities would also be against “the Political Parties Act,” he added.
“Those who are doing such activities today are causing interference in the elections in our country tomorrow. If the political parties of the TRNC campaign for the elections in Turkey today and try to gather votes, will the political parties in Turkey not take a position in tomorrow’s elections in our country? Won’t they intervene?”, he added.
Kudret Ozersai spoke of political shows with which some try to survive and which “cast a shadow on the will of the people and the independence of the state”.
