Mihriban Hurmacı and Özer Hurmacı, who have the title of “complainant-defendant”, attended the first hearing at the Istanbul 15th Criminal Court of First Instance with their lawyers. In his identity inquiry, Özer Hurmacı stated that he had 3 children and was on the eve of divorce and said, “I played football for 17 years. I have a house. Again, I own the house where my wife lives. I have 5 real estates.” Mihriban Hurmacı objected, saying, “The house belongs to me.” Mihriban Hurmacı stated that she does not work and said, “I am a mother, I do not work. I live in my own house. I do not have a monthly income.”
“I DO NOT WANT MY THREE CHILD’S MOTHER TO BE PUNISHED”
After being asked about her statement, Özer Hurmacı said, “Of course, I don’t want the mother of my three children to be punished. Mihriban saw my phone and had a fit of jealousy. She cursed, slapped me. She bit my finger and got stitches. “I don’t want my children to read them when they grow up. I just defended myself. I definitely did not hit him. While I was taking him away from me, the phone came to his face,” he said. His lawyer, Esennur Ezgi, said, “My client has three stitches on his finger. We do not accept the accusations. We want his acquittal.”
“HIT MY FACE WITH THE PHONE”
In her statement, Mihriban Hurmacı said, “Messages from another woman fell on the phone screen that day. I picked up the phone and went to her. I said explain it. She said, ‘Who are you, when she cheated on me, and cursed me. She pushed me and started hitting my face with the phone. I bled all over. I said, ‘You look like a zombie. “Go wash your face,” he said. When I screamed, he covered my mouth with his hand. He held me tight because I was shouting. He left when he saw the children. He took the phone and ran to the toilet. I went to the gendarmerie,” he said. Stating that she did not threaten Özer Hurmacı, Mihriban Hurmacı said, “I do not remember the injuries in Özer Hurmacı.” After Özer Hurmacı laughed at these statements, the judge warned him not to disturb the order of the trial.
Mihriban Hurmacı’s lawyer, Serkan Toper, stated that there was a very unfortunate process regarding violence against women, and holding the bloody photos that Mihriban Hurmacı shared on her social media account after she was beaten, “We are talking about a woman who was deceived and then exposed to violence and lived alone. My client is insulted and threatened. He was not found. He was subjected to a coup. We want Özer Hurmacı to be punished.”
THE PROSECUTOR ANNOUNCED THE OPINION
In his opinion on the merits, the prosecutor of the hearing demanded that Mihriban Hurmacı be acquitted of “insult” and “threat” and Özer Hurmacı from the charge of “threat” due to lack of evidence. The prosecutor demanded that the parties be imprisoned from 6 months to 1 year and 6 months for the crime of “simple injury to spouse”.
“TRYING TO DRAMATIZE THE EVENT”
Ozer Hurmacı, who was promised on the opinion, said, “The other party is trying to dramatize the incident. The other party has defamed me enough from the beginning. I am the victim. I do not want him to be punished, but unfortunately that is the case.”

Mihriban Hurmacı said: “As a woman, I will never forget this scene in my life. The lawyers of the parties requested time against the opinion. The court postponed the hearing, giving time to the attorneys of the parties.
“THAT IS AN EXCESSIVE, DRAMATIC EVENT”
Upon the questions of the members of the press at the end of the hearing, Özer Hurmacı said, “Such situations are not pleasant. Unfortunately, there is such an exaggerated and dramatized event. There is nothing to say. Of course, I don’t want my children’s mother to be punished either. That’s why I don’t want to talk about my children thinking about it, because when they grow up.” they will read this. I am just a father trying to teach them love, respect and being right in life. That’s why I will continue like this,” he said.
EVENT HISTORY
Mihriban Hurmacı claimed that there was an argument between them because of the photos and messages she saw on her husband Özer Hurmacı’s mobile phone, and that her husband inflicted violence on her after the argument. In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, Özer Hurmacı and Mihriban Hurmacı, who mutually complained to each other, took place as “suspect-suspect”. In the indictment, it was stated that there was an argument between the parties due to jealousy late on the evening of February 3, Özer Hurmacı threatened by saying “I will kill you”, and Mihriban Hurmacı insulted and threatened by swearing and saying “I will finish you off”. It was noted that the parties injured each other slightly with kicks, slaps and punches. In the indictment, Mihriban Hurmacı was imprisoned from 1 year, 3 months to 5 years and 6 months on charges of “Simple injury to spouse”, “Insult” and “Threatened”. A prison sentence of 1 year to 3 years and 6 months was requested for Özer Hurmacı on charges of “simple injury to spouse” and “Threatened”.
