Arkia Airlines appointed Oz Berlovitz as CEO, replacing Gadi Teper who unexpectedly decided to retire from the position.
Oz Berlovitz started working at Arkia 25 years ago as a flight attendant, advanced to the position of chief flight attendant, station manager, manager of the flight attendants department, assistant to the CEO, and CEO of Arkia International.
From his experience, he personally knows most of the types of work in the company, which was very beneficial for industrial peace in Arkiye, and helped to obtain fair labor agreements. Oz opened lines for Arkia to new destinations, the last of which was the line to Srilanka which should have been operational had the war not started. In the past, he led an Arkia merger with El Al, a historic move that was blocked by Treasury officials in the Antitrust Division.
Oz Berlovitz has a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations, and a master’s degree in business administration from Bar Ilan University.
Oz Berlovitz receives sympathy from travel agents and religious travelers, even though Arkia also flies on Saturdays. For example, before Rosh Hashanah, Arkia operated 36 charter flights for Oman. In addition, religious wholesalers prefer to book charters for kosher vacationers during Passover and summer. “They know that with us they and their customers receive the best service” says Oz. “The kosher food served on our flights is just like in El Al and Bishrair. The reality proves that we have no disconnect with the religious public and the religious wholesalers.”
Oz looks and sounds in love with his work and in the field of aviation. “Aviation is a germ and it’s a profession” he declares. Israel has only 3 airlines, only a few thousand employees, and one international airport. “Experience is the most important, because there is sensitivity to politics, the dollar exchange rate and security situations.”
Upon his appointment as CEO, Oz Berlovitz announces: “I would like to thank Gadi Teper for managing the company during the past three years, which were among the most difficult in the aviation industry. I am taking over the management of the company, in a complex period, when reality forces us to face many challenges, mainly a return to aviation routine in the shadow of war routine. I would like to thank the controlling owners, partners and the board of directors for the trust they have placed in me. Together, the management and the employees, we will march the sky forward to the summit of aviation and tourism in Israel.”
We say in prayer “God will give strength to his people”, and from now on strength will also be given to the sky.
