As stated by the Ophthalmologist at the Hinduja Mumbai Hospital, Dr Nishant Kumar.
“There is a lot of contamination in the pipes used for oxygen, the tubes and humidifiers used. If you have decreased immunity and have been using pipes and oxygen for a long time, then this infection has more of a chance to enter the body,” said Dr Kumar. .
However, the opinion on this matter was divided, because other medical experts considered that some hospitals that were not clean were actually owned by several hospitals before April 2021, to be precise before the emergence of black fungus infection in Covid-19 patients and survivors.

As stated by a senior doctor and researcher at the Mahatma Gandhi Maharashtra Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. SP Kalantri.
“Hospitals are actually dirty even before this April, therefore we need an epidemiological study to assess why cases of black fungus infection are currently increasing,” said Dr Kalantri.
