Authorities controlled the oxygen leak at the General Hospital Zone (HGZ) number 58, located in Santa Monica, Tlalnepantla, in the State of Mexico.
The gas leak was caused by a fracture in a cryogenic storage tank and although the incident caused around 400 people, including patients, staff and workers, to leave the site, the low toxicity of the material did not cause any damage to the health of anyone present.
The IMSS reported that staff and patients have returned to the facilities, while the company in charge of providing the oxygen service and Civil Protection brigades are on site carrying out exhaustive review protocols.
They also explained that the situation was immediately brought under control, which meant that the hospital’s operations and patient care were not affected.
