Oxford expects to win World Cup 2022, where will England go?

Oxford

the best university in the UK, Oxfordrecently unveiled the mathematical prediction of the sample World Cup 2022. For the British public, this prediction doesn’t sound funny.

Oxford conducted a study with a mathematical model to find out which team has the greatest potential to win the 2022 World Cup. The study was led by Oxford Institute of Mathematics postdoctoral student Joshua Bull.

This mathematical model simulates the group stage up to a million times and takes the most common results. The algorithm is then simulated again for the drop phase up to 100,000 times.

This mathematical model was created by analyzing each team’s elo ranking, from international match data from 2018. From this simulation, Oxford revealed that Brazil is the team with the highest percentage of champions.

From the resulting mathematical model, Brazil will beat Belgium in the final. The results of this prediction also reveal that England will only reach the quarter-finals, as will Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Germany even stopped in the round of 16. Argentina and France will each advance to the semifinals, then lose to Brazil and Belgium, respectively.

In percentage terms, Brazil wins with 14.72%, followed by Argentina with 14.36%. Followed by the Netherlands (7.84%), Spain (7.03%), France (6.37%), Belgium (6.31%) and Portugal (5.60%).

For the record, in this mathematical model from Oxford, the Netherlands, Argentina, Spain and Brazil are on the same side of the rankings. Meanwhile, Belgium is on the same side as England, France and Portugal.
