Xiaomi has received a patent for a technology that can detect lies. According to ITHome, the Chinese vendor intends to use it in laptops and smartphones.

To capture untrue statements in Xiaomi smartphones, a camera with a telephoto lens will be used. To determine whether a person is lying or not, it will be enough to point the camera at his eyes. Special algorithms will analyze the subject’s pupils for dilation. The fact that during a lie the pupils dilate by 4-8% has long been known. It is difficult to notice the increase in pupils with the naked eye. Another sign that a person is purposefully telling lies is frequent blinking.
The patent application notes that “lie detector” technology will be integrated into mobile devices. Xiaomi smartphone owners will be able to use it anywhere. Unfortunately, the terms of technology implementation are not specified in the application.
