Owner of Ayuterra Resort Reports Lift Contractor to Police Following Deadly Tragedy

Jakarta

Owner Ayuterra Resort, Linggawati Utomo, reported the lift contractor to the police. This report is a response to the deadly lift tragedy that killed five Ayuterra Resort employees, in Kedewatan Village, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali.

The deadly incident occurred on September 1, 2023. The elevator fell after the rope broke.

Linggawati admitted that she reported to the Bali Police on Sunday (10/9/2023) with report number LP/B/501/IX/2023/SPKT/Bali Police. The reporter’s name is Vincent Juwono (Linggawati’s husband), while the reporter’s name is Mujiana, who is an elevator contractor.

Linggawati reported Mujiana on suspicion of criminal fraud as regulated in Article 378 of the Criminal Code. Linggawati admitted that the lift at her resort originally had three steel sling ropes.

He then wanted the elevator to beupgrade so it can carry more people.

“So initially, from the first contractor, there were three slings, but the model counterweight. There are ups, there are downs. “Then, because of the increase in rooms, at that time I asked for an elevator that could carry eight people,” explained Linggawati, as reported detikBali.

This request was agreed to by Mujiana, the contractor who at that time was selected to work on the elevator repairs. Mujiana even guaranteed that it could transport more than what Linggawati requested.

“At that time he (the contractor) proposed a lift concept at one of the resorts in the Ubud area that uses one sling by showing the video,” said Linggawati, who was accompanied by her family and legal representative.

However, at that time Linggawati did not check the correctness of the contractor’s work on the lift. He admitted that he believed the suggestion to use one sling because he felt that the contractor had a license to work on inclinator lifts.

Meanwhile, the Bali Police immediately investigated the report. Witnesses will be examined.

“We will investigate the witnesses related to this,” said the Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, when met by journalists in his office, Tuesday (12/9).
