A woman from Goes who thought she got her cat back in 2021 after it had been missing for years, turns out she had a strange cat in her house all those years. Her missing cat was only found last week. Now she has two almost identical cats running around.
Deborah Wattel’s black cat Fluffy went missing in 2018. In 2021 she couldn’t believe her luck when the shelter in Zierikzee named her Fluffy there were he found She quickly got the cat back and had a “touch up” appointment. Fluffy was very happy and immediately jumped on my lap.
There was one strange detail: Fluffy was chipped, but the rescuers could not find the chip. That happened often, they said. “That’s why we thought we had the right cat,” says Wattel Broadcasting Zeeland.
Last week there was a call from a veterinary clinic in Roosendaal. The real Fluffy was included in it.
“I didn’t believe it because we already had Fluffy in the house,” said Wattel. In Roosendaal, however, it turned out that the cat’s chip number matched the real Fluffy’s.
She raised the animal immediately and now there are two almost identical black cats at home. To tell the animals apart, she gave the original Fluffy a blue collar and the doppelgänger a red one. “If I hadn’t done that, I still wouldn’t have been able to tell them apart.” She calls them both Fluffy.
Guilt
The woman hopes that the owner of the cat from Zierikzee will still report on it. “There is a family that has been without a cat for three years now and I feel a little guilty about that.”
